I'm AJ, I have been repairing electronics since I was nine years old (now 57).
It's been many years since I started this site in 1998.
Things have changed radically in the consumer electronics field. VCR repair used to be my main income. Now they cost less to buy than an hour's labor. (And now(2008) they are basically gone, overtaken by DVD recorders or cable or satellite DVR's. (And in 2010, after the DTV change, about the only way to record TV is with some sort of DVR.))
So now I repair computers.
I also still take on any electronics repair job that can pay the bills. These include repairing electric gates, troubleshooting low voltage and control electronics and working on the electrical and electronics parts of motorcycle repair jobs with a local shop.
The hurricanes in 2004 helped to put me out of my shop and I now work completely from my home.
In 2005 my wife of 35 years, Alice Faye Notter Jerig, passed away after a long illness. I still miss her every day.
In 2006 I was diagnosed with Hepatitis C and successfully treated by a great local hepatoligist with Intron brand interferon and antivirals (Rebetol) supplied for free by the drug manufacturer, Schering, Thanks!
Made me a bit crazy (a documented side effect) for a while, but I'm OK now.
UPDATE - I have tested clean (no virus) several times now, the most recent being more than 1 year after ending the year long treatment. YEAH!!!

Computers are still a big part of my business and I write some web pages for clients also.
Not riding much, need new tires.
